Civil Works Administration and Civil Works Service project registers, 1933-1934.

The CWS was the subdivision of the CWA which supervised work projects for women and professional people. In Virginia, the CWS primarily oversaw work projects for women which included sewing rooms, school cleaning, clerical work, library work, recreation, school lunch preparation and folk song collecting. Originally maintained in looseleaf binders, the project registers (CWA Form A3) record the costs on each project. Included are figures for approved estimated cost as well as actual expenditures, subdivided by type of expense and fund charged. Additional pages were frequently used for large or complex projects. Data from payroll records, vouchers, and other expense records were entered on these register pages, for use in reports of completed projects (Form L6A) and work in progress (Form L4A). Records are on reels 3-6.

4 microfilm reels.
